ALLCAPS Jan 2025 Update

First of all, I want to thank Chimp, Owl, Kent and everyone else behind the scenes pushing me to update and get myself sorted. ALLCAPS has failed because I let it fail. I have not been able to manage myself, life, family, work and the shop for a while now and it shows. Which is why I have come to decision that as of end of June, 2025 ALLCAPS will close.

I think it's pretty clear that ALLCAPS has been on life support since we closed the store in Sunshine, had a stroke when Kent left and has been close to death for a while now. This is 100% my fault for failing to focus my time on ALLCAPS enough and I apologise if I've impacted you negatively in any way. Over the next few months I will working to close out the store prior to EOFY. 

Closing?

ALLCAPS will close permanently at the end of June (EOFY), 2025 unless all of the current GBs land earlier. ALLCAPS is now officially on in active close-down status pending the arrival of outstanding GBs.

I don’t think it’s fair to those that have ordered GBs to be closed before they land. I am remaining open to ensure everyone gets their GB orders delivered.

ALLCAPS is now closed to new GBs and we will not be taking on further new buys or products.

ALLCAPS’s ultimate demise has been due a number of contributing factors that combined to bring it down to where it is now. And they are:

• My health taking a significant turn last year, my family and I had Covid for about 8 weeks that saw multiple hospitalisations, lung infections and ventilators being applied to keep everyone going. Recovery was slow and took a huge toll, more than I thought possible
• Kent stepping away from AC - Due to personal commitments and starting a business in the hospitality space Kent had to step away. He was the ultimate driving force behind ALLCAPS’s Comms and velocity, since he left I have not picked up his slack
• Dispute with our landlord and ultimately having to close our storefront in Sunshine - while this occurred a while ago, it tied up several thousand dollars that we could not access until recently.
• Dwindling keyboard market - I think it’s safe to say that the keyboard market has taken a turn this past 18 months
• JC got a new job - I picked up a new job outside of ALLCAPS which has been immensely distracting and way more time intensive than first advertised. I’m not in a position to leave that role now given the focus I need to put into close AC

They’re the excuses, but ultimately the failure of ALLCAPS falls on me and my ability to juggle life, family, work and ALLCAPS all at once. It’s my fault for stretching myself so thin and my fault for failing to keep up with everything and everyone. This is why I have taken the difficult decision to close. I felt that it’s much much better to give everyone a clear update and plan forward with the ultimate view of closing permanently rather than being silent and not updating.

GB Updates

Shipping

Moving forward all in stocks will be shipped Tuesdays and Thursdays. I’ll post an update  on those days when shipping is complete so you know your order has gone out. GBs will be shipped 100% on the weekend they arrive and will go out with the in stocks the following Tuesday (unless there is a QC issue).

Container Deliveries

Containers arrive to our forwarder once every 30-45 days, typically at the beginning or conclusion of a month (sometimes twice in a month if we have met cut off times). Deliveries from the CN side take about a week to hit the warehouse ahead of being shipped to us on the AU side. Delays happen in a couple of ways, normally either missing the cut off for that month's delivery or if there is port congestion on either side.

Immediate focus

• Clearing the final GB invoices that are required (Terminal designer and artisans, KKB Machinist)
• In stock orders 
• Refunds (MW Asuka and ticket refund requests)
• GB orders as soon as they arrive to me within a couple of days
